God’s showing us who He is, His nature and His ways through imagery in the Bible. If you’re dreaming or seeing images with two items, two people, the number two, a doubling – here’s some of what He might be saying
The Number Two
Dreaming something twice can be a confirmation
- Genesis 41.32 And the dream was repeated to Pharaoh twice because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass.
Two is spoken of as a witness in the Bible
- John 8.17-18 It is written in your law that the testimony of two men is true. I am One who bears witness of Myself, and the Father who sent Me bears witness of Me (confirmed by John in Revelation 1:5)
- 2 Cor 13:1 Every matter must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses (we’ll talk about 3 in the next email!)
Two can be for addition and future multiplication
- Genesis 1.28 We are created man and woman to have children and multiply and fill the earth.
- The animals went into the ark two by two so after the flood waters went down they might multiply again over the earth
Two can be for separation (positive or negative)
- Genesis 2:6 On the second day of Creation God separated the waters and created firmament of the heavens and the waters in the earth
Two is for choice shown through the mystery of the Two Trees (tree of life / tree of knowledge of good and evil)
- Genesis 2 & 3: Adam & Eve had a choice as we all do – will you follow God or choose to make yourself great?
- Abraham had to choose if he would obey God and see Isaac as the son of the Promise rather than Ishmael. Genesis 17:18-19 And Abraham said to God, “Oh that Ishmael might live before You!” Then God said: “”No, Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac; I will establish My covenant with him
Two is for choosing the spirit or the soul to lead
- Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart
- This comes up in dreams where you are shown two options – God can be showing you if you are working things out in your mind, will and emotions or choosing to trust and walk with Holy Spirit.
Two can for be a double portion
- Isaiah 61.7 Instead of your shame you shall have a double honour
- Ecclesiastes 4: Two are better than one…
The Number Two speaks to us about choice, of there being a witness, a confirmation. It is also an encouragement and warning to choose wisely for a life in the Spirit. Multiplication or division come with number two and this shifts legacy.
So – if you’re dreaming about the number 2, seeing two people or objects in prophetic images, or waking up at 2am, perhaps God is speaking to you about the themes above.
